وَإِذْ قَالَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَا مَرْيَمُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اصْطَفَاكِ وَطَهَّرَكِ وَاصْطَفَاكِ عَلَىٰ نِسَاءِ الْعَالَمِينَ

Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers

Translation: O Mary! Surely Allah has selected you, purified you, and chosen you over all women of the world. — Quran 3:42

-Note: The Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, Peace Be Upon Them, is the ONLY woman mentioned by her name in the Holy Quran.

The Qur’an consists of 114 surahs (“chapters”). Every surah has a title (based on its content), but only one surah is named after a woman: the Virgin Mary. The technical name for that surah is “Surat Maryam” (surah 19). The fact that a surah is named after the Virgin Mary is stunning. After all, there is no surah named after Muhammad’s mother, Aminah. There is no surah named after Muhammad’s famed wife Khadijah. There is no surah named after one of Muhammad’s daughters, not even the beloved Fatima. But there is a surah named after the mother of Jesus of Nazareth. That is, the Holy Book of Islam gives significant primacy of place to a Jewish woman who was the mother of the central figure of Christianity.

last few months i have read a book titled “God’ed” by Dr Laurence B. Brown here the quotes from his book, pages 78–79:

“Many orientalists claim that the Qur’an is not true revelation, but came from Muhammad’s mind. Compounding the peculiarity of this claim is the startling fact that the only woman the Qur’an mentions by name is Mary, an Israelite and the mother of Jesus. And she is mentioned in glowing terms. As a matter of fact, a whole surah bears her name. The Muslim questions if this could be the product of the mind of a man. To declare Muhammad a false prophet, when he excluded the women who filled his life and memory from the revelation he claimed, in favor of an Israelite woman and the mother of an Israelite prophet, drives recklessly against the flow of reasonable expectation.”
