The Miraculous Birth of Jesus from an Islamic perspective

The Quran confirms that Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, was born of a virgin woman. When the angel announced to Mary, on whom be peace, that she will bear a child, she said: “My Lord! How can I have a child when no man has ever touched me?”

— Quran 3:47

She received the following reply: “So will it be. Allah creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He simply tells it, ‘Be!’ And it is!

— Quran 3:47

The Quran seeks to correct a common misconception in the minds of people. Many assume that since Jesus had no father then God must be his father.

Glory be to God. He does not father children. He created everyone we know from a man and a woman. But He created Adam from neither a man nor a woman. And He created Eve from a man, but not from a woman. Then, as if to complete the picture, God created Jesus from a woman but not from a man. God has demonstrated His power to create in every way.

God says: “Lo! the likeness of Jesus with Allah is as the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then he said unto him: Be! and he is.” — Quran 3:59

Adam was created when God said, “Be,” and he to be without a father or a mother. And so was Jesus created by the Word “Be,”.

Jesus Christ son of Virgin Mary, Peace Be Upon Him, born miraculously by the command of God, the same command that had brought Adam into being with neither a father nor a mother.

Jesus Christ, Peace Be Upon Him, is a sign of God’s power, where God showed people that He could create Jesus without a father, as He created Adam without any parents. Similarly, just as God created Adam with no father or mother, Jesus’ birth was from mother with no father. All that is needed for God for something to happen is to say “Be” and it is; for God is capable of all things. Adam was created when God said, “Be,” and he to be without a father or a mother. And so was Jesus created by the Word of God. If the unusual birth of Jesus makes him divine, then Adam deserves more of that divinity because Jesus at least had one parent, while Adam had none. As Adam is not divine, so is Jesus not divine, but both are humble servants of God.

i find it make sense and logical. its simply mean that He Who created Adam without a father or a mother is able to create Jesus, as well, without a father. If the claim is made that`Jesus is God’s son because he was created without a father, then the same claim befits Adam more.

“Be, and it is” (كن فيكون kun fa-yakūnu) is a phrase that occurs several times in the Qur’an. It refers to creation by Allah:

Originator of the heavens and the earth. Whenever He decrees a thing, He says to it, ‘Be,’ and it becomes ―QURAN 2:117. also see Quran 16:40.

God knows best.

Salam/Peace.
