Jesus and Mary in the Quran
Many people do not know of the significance of Jesus and Mary in the Quran. In fact, many people believe Muslims disbelieve in Jesus or even hate him! This is simply not true.
The Quran confirms that Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, was born of a virgin woman. When the angel announced to Mary, on whom be peace, that she will bear a child, she said: “My Lord! How can I have a child when no man has ever touched me?” [ — Quran 3:47]
She received the following reply: “So will it be. Allah creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He simply tells it, ‘Be!’ And it is! [ — Quran 3:47]
The Quran seeks to correct a common misconception in the minds of people. Many assume that since Jesus had no father then God must be his father. Glory be to God. He does not father children. He created everyone we know from a man and a woman. But He created Adam from neither a man nor a woman. And He created Eve from a man, but not from a woman. Then, as if to complete the picture, God created Jesus from a woman but not from a man. God has demonstrated His power to create in every way.
God says: “Lo! the likeness of Jesus with Allah is as the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then he said unto him: Be! and he is.” [ — Quran 3:59]
Adam was created when God said, “Be,” and he to be without a father or a mother. And so was Jesus created by the Word “Be,”. Jesus Christ born miraculously by the command of God, the same command that had brought Adam into being with neither a father nor a mother.

Mary (known as Maryam in Arabic) is mentioned by name in the Quran more times than in the Bible. Mary even has a whole chapter dedicated to her, Sura 19 (Sura Maryam).
Jesus, Son of Mary (peace be upon him) is the most mentioned prophet in the Holy Quran. Mother Mary (Maryam) holds an exalted place in Islam as the only woman mentioned by name in the Holy Quran and described as the greatest of all women.
And Jesus spoke as an infant to the villagers who came questioning his mother the Virgin Mary that what did you? How did you get a child? So Allah made baby Jesus speak to defend his mothers honor. Quran gives so much respect to Jesus and Mary.
And remember in the Scripture Mary, when she secluded herself from her family in an eastern location. And she took a cover for herself away from them, and We sent to her Our angel, so He appeared to her as a human being in perfect shape.
She appealed, “I truly seek refuge in the Most Compassionate from you! if you are God-fearing.” He said, “I am only a messenger of your Lord to grant you a pure boy.”
She said, “How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?”
He said, “Thus said your Lord, ‘It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign for humanity and a mercy from Us, and it has been a matter already decreed.’”
So she carried him and secluded herself with him in a remote place.
Then the pains of labour drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She cried, “Alas! I wish I had died before this, and was a thing long forgotten!”
So he called her from beneath her : “Be not sad; your Lord has made a stream beneath you.
And shake the trunk of the palm tree towards you — it will drop ripe dates upon you.”
“So eat and drink and let your eye be comforted, but if you see any human being, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to the All-Merciful, so I will not speak to any human today.’”
Then she came to her people, carrying him. They said, “O Mary, you have done something terrible.
O sister of Aaron! Your father was not an indecent man, nor was your mother unchaste.”
So she pointed to the baby. They exclaimed, “How can we talk to someone who is an infant in the cradle?”
He said, “I am truly a servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a Prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I may be and has enjoined upon me prayer and charity so long as I live. and to be kind to my mother. He has not made me arrogant or defiant. Peace be upon me the day I was born, the day I die, and the day I will be raised back to life!”
That is Jesus, son of Mary — the word of truth about which they are skeptical.
It does not befit Allah to take for Himself a son. Glory be to Him! When He decrees a thing He only says: “Be” and it is. “And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him; this is a straight path.”

Jesus: A Cross-Faith Comparison
We reveal to you (Muhammad) this account from a realm which lies beyond the reach of your perception for you were not with them when they drew lots with their pens about who should be Mary’s guardian, and you were not with them when they disputed about it.
— Quran 3:44
The Messiah, son of Mary, was only a messenger. Many messengers passed away before him. His mother was a virtuous woman; and they both ate food. See how We make the signs clear to them! See how they turn away!
